How this works
A bond's price is the present value of its remaining coupons and face value at the market yield.
When the market yield is above the coupon, the bond trades at a discount; below it, at a premium.
Frequently asked questions
Why do bond prices fall when yields rise?
Future coupons are fixed, so a higher discount rate makes them worth less today.
What about prices between coupon dates?
Add accrued interest — the Accrued Interest calculator does that.
