How this works
Both you and your employer contribute 12% of basic pay + DA. Part of the employer's share goes to the pension scheme (EPS) and earns no EPF interest; the rest goes to your EPF account.
From 17 September 2026 the statutory wage ceiling is ₹25,000, so the EPS share is up to ₹2,083 a month.
Frequently asked questions
Is EPF interest tax-free?
Interest on your own contributions above a yearly limit is taxable; the rest is exempt under current law.
Does the EPS share earn interest?
No — EPS builds a pension entitlement, not a balance with interest.
