TNW = Net worth − Intangible assets − Revaluation reserve
ATNW = TNW − Investments in group / associate concerns − Loans and advances to them
Details
How this works
When a business invests in or lends to group concerns, that money is not available to absorb losses here. Lenders deduct it to see the net worth truly supporting the borrower.
ATNW is used in place of TNW in leverage ratios such as TOL/ATNW.
Frequently asked questions
Are trade advances to group companies deducted?
Lenders usually deduct investments and non-trade advances; genuine trade dues may be treated as current assets. Policies differ.
Is quasi-equity added?
Some lenders add subordinated promoter loans after the adjustment; the Tangible Net Worth calculator shows that option.
