How this works
Beta measures how much a stock tends to move when the market moves. A beta of 1.2 means about 1.2% for each 1% market move, on average.
Use at least 24–36 monthly returns from the same dates for the stock and the index.
Frequently asked questions
Which index should I use?
A broad index that matches the stock — for Indian large caps, a broad large-cap index.
Is beta stable?
No. It changes as the business and the market change; recalculate it from time to time.
What is R²?
How much of the stock's movement the market explains. A low R² means beta tells you little.
