Show formula & working
For each goal: Cost then = Cost today × (1 + i)N; SIP = Cost then ÷ ((1 + r)n − 1) ÷ r × (1 + r); Lumpsum = Cost then ÷ (1 + R)N
r = assumed annual return ÷ 12; SIPs are taken as invested at the start of each month, as in the Goal SIP calculator.Details
How this works
Each goal is planned separately with its own inflation and horizon, then added up.
Near goals need large SIPs for a short time; far goals need small SIPs for a long time.
Frequently asked questions
Should all goals use the same return?
This planner uses one assumption for simplicity. In practice, near goals are usually invested more conservatively, so their assumed return should be lower.
What happens when a goal is reached?
Its SIP stops and the total falls.
