Show formula & working

Savings ratio = (take-home − expenses − EMIs) ÷ take-home · Liquidity = liquid assets ÷ monthly (expenses + EMIs) · Debt-to-income = EMIs ÷ gross income

Solvency = net worth ÷ total assets · Leverage = loans ÷ total assets · Investments ÷ net worth

    How this works

Like a company's financial ratios, these six numbers give a quick health check of your own finances.

The ranges shown are common rules of thumb — useful markers, not targets everyone must hit. Young earners will often have lower solvency; that should improve with time.

    Frequently asked questions

    Which ratio matters most?

Savings and liquidity first — they keep you out of trouble. Debt-to-income matters when you plan to borrow, as lenders look at it closely.

    Why gross income for debt-to-income?

Lenders usually measure EMIs against gross or net income in their own way; gross is the common convention.

    What counts as an investment?

Assets bought to grow — funds, shares, PF, PPF, NPS. A home you live in is an asset but not an investment here.
